Terms & Conditions
Last updated: 20 June 2026
This is a plain-language summary for a small expense-splitting app, not legal advice. Please review it before relying on it.
By using split/away you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the app.
What split/away is
split/away is a free tool for tracking shared expenses and working out the fewest payments to settle up. It’s provided as-is, with no accounts — each tab is reached through its own private link.
Your responsibilities
- The link to a tab is the only key to it, and anyone who has it can view and edit everything — there are no read-only links. You’re responsible for keeping it safe and for who you share it with.
- You’re responsible for the accuracy of the amounts and details you enter.
- Don’t use the app for anything illegal or abusive, and don’t scrape, overload, or try to break the service.
Not financial advice
The balances and suggested payments are a convenience based on what you enter. They’re not financial advice — please check them before sending real money.
AI features
Where the optional smart expense entry is available, it sends the text or receipt photo you provide to a third-party AI service to draft expenses. Those drafts are suggestions only — they can be wrong or incomplete, so review and correct them before saving. By using the feature you accept that the content you submit is processed by that provider, so don’t submit anything you’re not comfortable sharing.
Availability
We try to keep split/away running but can’t guarantee it will always be available, and we may change, pause, or discontinue it at any time.
Disclaimer & liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, split/away is provided without warranties of any kind, and we aren’t liable for any loss arising from your use of it, including incorrect totals or data that becomes unavailable.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Canada.
Changes
We may update these terms from time to time; the date above shows the latest version. See also our Privacy page.
